WHAT IS LOKOMAT

Lokomat is a roboticdesigned to practice walking. It is used to treat patients with reduced momentum, whether causedit´s  by an injury or congenital / postpartum disease (eg, cerebral palsy). How does Lokomat work and why is therapy more effective with it?

FOR WHO IS THE THERAPY WITH LOKOMAT DESIGNED?

  • For neurological patients
  • FOR patients with child cerebral palsy
  • For patients after a stroke
  • For patients with multiple sclerosis
  • For patients after head trauma
  • For patients after spinal cord injury
  • For children and adults

HOW IT WORKS

Lokomat includes robotic brace, movable walkway, hanging system, and computer with monitor, which together are the ideal means to improve the quality of patient´s walking.

Robotic orthoses

  • Lead the patient’s steps – they are powered by small motorcycles that are controlled by computer
  • Ensure the natural movement of the lower limbs
  • Contain sensors that transmit information about strength, accuracy, or range of motion to the computer
  • Allow you to project the patient’s movement on the monitor as part of virtual reality

Computer

  • Illustrates patient movements using virtual (or augmented) reality
  • Records patient results and allows them to compare objectively
  • Assesses the strength of the lower limbs

Moving walkway

  • Motivates the patient to walk
  • Helps the natural abdomen

Suspension system

  • Helps dynamically relieve the patient
  • The degree of relief or load can be adjusted individually
